San Ramon Accomplishments:
- Completed their Climate Action Plan. Presented to and approved by the City Council.
- City of San Ramon Climate Action Plan
- Conversion of streetlights to LED in fall/spring of 2010/2011.
- Converted traffic signals to LED lighting.
- Changed lamps in the middle school gymnasium to reduce energy consumption.
- Used mulch in landscaped areas to minimize water loss.
- Have evapo-transpiration irrigation through CalSense for turf and landscaping.
- Support Green Businesses. Created "Green Business Guide" to help San Ramon businesses looking to reduce operating costs and become greener. There are currently 18 certified Green Businesses in the city.
- Chicken Ordinance
- Recycling Program updates: increased commercial and residential options, free programs for multi-family units, E-waste and recycling events held in San Ramon.
- Composting programs offered. Use of compost in city parks and landscaping to minimize water loss along with use of water conservation technology.
- Green Building Guidelines for new construction
- General Plan 2030 Update will include GHG emission reduction policies and aim to meet the CA Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006
- Use of energy saving devices for lighting, computers, windows, roofing materials and HVAC systems.
- Conversion of City parking lot lighting to LED technology in fall 2009. Changes will reduce energy costs by approximately 50%.
- Community Wide Greenhouse Gas Inventory completed.
- Joined ICLEI's Cities for Climate Protection Campaign (www.iclei-usa.org).
