- Climate Action Plan draft available for review.
- Conducting solar feasibility study with the goal of installing solar on several city owned buidlings. Using EECBG funding to help install solar on the City Hall.
- Supports CaliforniaFIRST
- Worked with the City of Lafayette & Muir Heritage Land Trust to purchase acreage on Acalanes Ridge! This property can be seen from 12 cities and adjoins thousands of acres of land already preserved as open space.
- Offering curbside pick-up of residential compostable food scraps in starting in October 2010.
- General Plan 2025 adopted with 23 policies & 58 action items on Environmental Integrity and Sustainability
- Received 5 ABAG Green Business awards for fleet services, parks divisions, city hall, reprographics & Lesher Arts Center
- Converted traffic lights to LEDs
- Introduced alternative fuels and vehicles to City’s vehicle fleet
- Adopted low permit fee for solar installation
- Passed ordinance requiring the recycling of construction debris
- City shares individual's inspirational stories to show sustainability in Walnut Creek
- October 2009: Walnut Creek hired the consulting firm PMC in collaboration with Strategic Energy Innovations (SEI) to assist with the development of an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy (EECS) and Climate Action Plan.

- 1st Contra Costa City to install Electrical Vehicle Charging Stations
